CLASS HISTORY
In September 1949 the doors of old Sunfield High School swung open to 21 verdant Freshman who were clamoring to begin their high school education. Some what frightened by the bells, and decidedly confused by the lengthy assignments of Biology, English, and Algebra that were handed out to us, we wondered if any of us would ever make a passing grade. However, our difficulties began to smooth out after a few weeks in the freshman room; and before we realized it, spring flowers were blooming on the soil banks and vacation was at hand.
18 silly sophomores answered the roll call in September 1950. We marched importantly to Room 2 convinced that we were the up and coming class. We ordered our rings that spring in April.
At the beginning of our junior year we received our class rings and wore them very proudly. On May 5, 1952 we gave the seniors a farewell banquet at the high school, which was followed by the Senior Prom. Our J-Hop was January 25, 1952. Clearance Schmidt and his orchestra furnished the music, the theme was “Stairway to the Stars”.
When we returned to school for our senior year this past fall, we found our sponsor to be Mr. Smyth. We were very honored to have Jackie Mapes and Larry Bosworth crowned as King and Queen of the 1952-53 basketball season.
As we go to press with our yearbook, we look back with many fond and happy memories. As freshmen we thought the four years ahead of us seemed all too long. As seniors looking back over four pleasant years, the time now seems all too short. The big day was rapidly approaching we discovered, as graduation day had been se for May 22, 1953. Class Colors: Blue and Gold - Class Flower: Yellow Rose
